Speaker notes: Now looking at IDV administered
as a single PI in a 1,200mg BID regimen:
- here it
can be seen that many individuals do have trough levels which
fall below the IC95 or IC50 values
- these individuals
are at risk of incomplete viral suppression.
Adding ritonavir (RTV) at 400mg BID with food to IDV 400mg BID brings
IDV trough levels out of the area where viral replication is a danger,
by:
- prolonging
IDV half life (t½)
- reducing
IDV Cmax
- overall,
increasing the IDV Cmin far above the IC95.
