New drugs added to interaction charts

Monday 30 March 2009

There are several additions to the interactions charts – both new drugs and a new class.

As well as introducing new drugs to existing classes, we have introduced a new class of drugs – Heart Failure Agents – which includes ACE inhibitors, angiotensin II receptor antagonists and diuretics. We have also expanded the steroid section to include not just the oral contraceptive steroids; non-oral contraceptive steroids are now listed along with steroids used as HRT.

To accommodate the additional drugs on the printable charts, we have removed the HIV drugs to a new printable chart of interactions between the HIV drugs. This new chart has been added to the end of each of the existing printable charts.

Full details of the new additions are given below.
Heart Failure Agents: Amiloride, Candesartan*, Chlortalidone, Cilazapril, Enalapril, Furosemide, Indapamide, Irbesartan*, Lisinopril, Losartan, Olmesartan*, Perindopril, Quinapril, Ramipril*, Trandolapril, Valsartan*.
