No Interaction Expected
Emtricitabine/Tenofovir-DF (FTC/TDF, PrEP)
Quality of Evidence:
Coadministration has not been studied but based on metabolism and clearance a clinically significant interaction is unlikely. Ursodeoxycholic acid is conjugated with glycine or taurine in the liver and secreted into bile. In vitro studies suggest that ursodeoxycholic acid is a CYP3A inducer. No effect on emtricitabine or tenofovir-DF is expected as they do not undergo CYP3A4 metabolism.
