Darunavir/cobicistat (DRV/c)
Ursodeoxycholic acid
Quality of Evidence: Very Low
Summary:
Coadministration has not been studied but based on metabolism and clearance a clinically significant interaction is unlikely. Darunavir/cobicistat is metabolized by and inhibits CYP3A4. Ursodeoxycholic acid is conjugated with glycine or taurine in the liver and secreted into bile. In vitro studies suggest that ursodeoxycholic acid is a CYP3A inducer. However, ursodeoxycholic acid did not significantly alter the exposure of boosted darunavir or paritaprevir suggesting that the inhibitory effect of darunavir/cobicistat may compensate for the inducing effect of ursodeoxycholic acid.
