No Interaction Expected
Emtricitabine/Tenofovir-DF (FTC/TDF, PrEP)
Quality of Evidence:
Coadministration has not been studied but based on metabolism and clearance a clinically significant interaction is unlikely. Semaglutide is metabolized by the enzyme neutral endopeptidase. Semaglutide delays gastric emptying and has the potential to impact the rate of absorption of concomitantly administered oral medicinal products. However, based on available interaction studies, a clinically relevant effect is not expected with emtricitabine or tenofovir-DF. Note: food, beverages and oral medicinal products can interfere with the absorption of oral semaglutide. Therefore, patients must wait at least 30 minutes after taking oral semaglutide before taking any other oral medicinal product.
