New drugs added to the interaction checker

Tuesday 04 August 2020

A new HIV drug and three new comedications have been added to the interaction checker.

Fostemsavir (Rukobia®), an HIV attachment inhibitor, was recently approved by the FDA for the treatment of HIV-1 infection in heavily treatment-experienced adults with multidrug-resistant HIV-1 infection failing their current antiretroviral regimen due to resistance, intolerance, or safety considerations.

The three new comedications that have been added are cabergoline, fampridine (also known as dalfampridine) and sevelamer. All three new drugs can be found in the “other” class of comedications.

The new drugs are available on the website and the iChart app. The PDF files for the Overview of Interactions charts (in the Prescribing Resources section) have been updated to included not only these drugs, but also cabotegravir and cabotegravir/rilpivirine which were added to the site a few months ago.
