Potential Weak Interaction
Quality of Evidence:
Coadministration has not been studied. In vitro studies suggest that sulfadiazine is partly metabolized by CYP2C9. Lopinavir/ritonavir has been found to induce metabolism mediated by CYP2C9 in clinical studies with probe substrates. Coadministration of lopinavir/ritonavir may decrease levels of sulfadiazine to a moderate extent, but the clinical significance of this potential interaction is unknown.
