Quality of Evidence:
Coadministration has not been studied but based on metabolism and clearance a clinically significant pharmacokinetic interaction is unlikely. Levofloxacin is metabolised to a very small extent and is eliminated renally, mainly by glomerular filtration and active secretion (possibly OCT2). However, caution should be exercised as both drugs have risks of QT prolongation and/or TdP on the CredibleMeds.org website (possible risk for lopinavir; known risk for levofloxacin). If coadministration is necessary, clinical monitoring including ECG assessment is recommended.
