Lamivudine (3TC)

Emtricitabine/Tenofovir-DF (FTC/TDF, PrEP)

Summary:

Emtricitabine/tenofovir-DF should not be coadministered with other cytidine analogues, such as lamivudine, due to potential competition for metabolism between emtricitabine and lamivudine. Coadministration of lamivudine (150 mg twice daily) and tenofovir-DF (300 mg once daily) decreased lamivudine AUC and Cmax by 3% and 24%; tenofovir AUC decreased by 4% and Cmax increased by 102% (n=15).

Description:

Emtricitabine/tenofovir-DF should not be administered concomitantly with other cytidine analogues, such lamivudine. Coadministration of lamivudine and tenofovir disoproxil fumarate decreased lamivudine AUC and Cmax by 3% and 24%. Tenofovir AUC decreased by 4% and Cmax increased by 102%.
